    LOVE MONTH

February is heart month and also is known as the love month, so we embark upon it with joy and excitement. As exclaimed by Pastor Bob during one of his memorable Sunday morning sermons, how advanced modern technology has become! We love our cell phones, I-pads, and all the trappings that go with them, like the convenience of texting one another. Technology is good, but Pastor Bob advises to not become so obsessed with it that you “text your spouse in bed to say ‘I love you, honey, and goodnight!’ That’s a bit much! Nothing replaces the human touch and the value of face-to-face communication to further positive relationships with one another. Scripture exhorts us to love one another (1 John 4:7), so let’s just do it!

Importantly, Pastor Bob further reminds us that God wants each of us to be in a loving relationship with Him. In an attempt to be relevant in today’s world, we can risk being irrelevant with God by neglecting to spend quality time with Him. As you show love to one another this month and throughout the year, remember to give God his due diligence of your time, talent, and resources. Love is an action word, so show your love in actions and in deeds!

                    Did You Know?

Approximately 141 million Valentine's Day cards are exchanged annually, making Valentine's Day the second most popular card-sending holiday after Christmas.

OFFICE NEWS

We welcome your input for our monthly bulletins. The church loves to hear praise reports and interesting stories -- “notes about folks” -- that would be an encouragement and blessing to others. Please send information you would like included to sebrothers@yahoo.com, or leave a note on the church office desk. Deadline for submitting information is the 20th of each month.

You are encouraged to carefully read and refer to your bulletins often. Each monthly publication is packed with interesting information and scheduled upcoming events. Fall quarter offers some exciting events and changes. Talk with group facilitators or the Pastors if you have questions, or if you want to be more involved in our Church Ministries.

To stay informed, it’s a good idea to bring your Monthly Bulletin with you weekly so you can easily refer to it. If you miss a publication, be sure to pick up one, as well as Monthly Calendars, available from an Usher or on information tables in the lobby. You are welcome to the free literature (like the quarterly Our Daily Bread publication), also available in the lobby.

Keep Us Informed!

Regarding heart health month, did you know that your heart is one of the hardest working parts of your body?   The best way to show love to your heart is to protect it, and the best way to protect it is through knowledge and a healthy lifestyle.  To help your heart, try to live stress free.  If slighted, slight the slight, and love the slighter.

Give and receive love one to another.

LOVE ONE ANOTHER (Unconditionally)! JOHN 13:34

TRUE LOVE NEVER DIES.  IT ONLY GETS STONGER WITH TIME!

Brighten Someone's Day

Create a happier environment and make everyone happier - -  whether it is a friend or a total stranger.   Steps:

1.       Smile, smile, smile. Whenever someone sees a smiling face, it reminds them that they may have reasons to smile themselves, and it will create a happier mood.

2.       Greet everyone you see. This will make people feel that they have been noticed and accepted in their environment.

3.       Surprise people with small cheery gifts.   Do random acts of kindness.  Homemade cupcakes, chocolates, or a box of doughnuts for early morning are sure to bring a smile to someone's face.

        4.       Compliments go a long way. People like it when you notice things about them because more than likely, they put a lot of thought into it.

        5.       Promote Optimism. If something is going wrong for someone, twist it and show them the positive. Tell them how it would be worse if it went the other way.

A Note of Encouragement:  "God is not only your Creator but your re-creator as well.  He made you in the first place.  And when you have misused or misdirected that which He made...He can make you over again."
